Katie has recently won the prestigious Student of the Month Award at James Bowie High School. She won this award this week due to her excellence in this six weeks.
Katie is a sophomore at Bowie in many Pre-ap classes, she has changed a lot since last year and is doing much better academically.
“Yeah I knew Katie last year, she was really struggling last year but she has really turned it around,” said fellow sophomore Keaton Adams.
Every one of Katie’s teachers feel that this award she has won is very well deserved. She has passed every six weeks with steady A’s.
“She is always excited to work and always does everything she has been assigned,” said Katie’s English Teacher Ms. Wiedmeyer.
Katie’s impressive work and afterschool program help really had a big influence on her nomination and eventual win.
“She really helped out a lot, not only in class but also outside of it. She constantly set up donations and afterschool drives for the less fortunate,” said Spanish Teacher Mrs. Walsh.
Well how would one expect Katie to be like in person. Many of Katie’s fellow classmates and friends were interviewed over her personality and interests.
“She is always really upbeat and funny, she really does things you wouldn’t expect and just in general a very all around kind person,” Said Adam, a fellow member of the Spanish Honorary Society.
Katie is very passionate about animals and has two dogs.
“Yes I have two dogs, Rusty and Oakley, I take care of them and play with them constantly”, said Katie.
Katie also has a twin brother that goes to this school. Both are very academically strong and help each other out with school work.
“Me and my sister compete constantly and I have to say she did get the better of me this time, but hopefully I’ll be student of the month next month” said Katie’s Brother.
